18-55mm F3.5-5.6 CANON EF-S IS (58) AUTO FOCUS STANDARD ZOOM LENS

This is the cheapest kit lens offered by Canon. Most often than not, you hear consumers complaining about this lens, too plasticky, image not sharp, truth be told, using this lens is simple... Just abide the rules: shoot at F5.6-11 at 18mm, F8-11 at 55mm and you can be assured good enough image quality. 

Photographers who know their stuff can easily tell you that for situation for example landscape shots, chances are small apertures will be used to maximize the depth of field, probably to get long shutter speed (for the smooth silky effect of the water flowing), in such cases whether you easily stop down to 18mm F8, then whether you are using this cheapest kit lens, or the top notch 16-35L... there wont be any significant differences.
