24-85mm F2.8-4D NIKON AF IF (72) AUTO FOCUS STANDARD ZOOM LENS

One of the most unnoticed lens in Southeast asian markets, such as Singapore, this is a very popular lens in Japan and USA, in fact it is listed as still in production on Nikon USA website, however... sadly to say, its hard to find a new set in Singapore, possibly because whoever is the big guy distributor of nikon lenses locally rather not sell this lens, but make consumers buy something else, say the AFS 24-70F2.8, which is 3 times the price of this. 

Comparing this lens to the AFS 24-70F2.8, truth that this lens may not have the trills and frills such as ED, Nana Coating, AFS... but hey! it well makes up for in its size, Macro mode, longer range (up to 85mm) and of course, the price. Seriously speaking, this is one of the extremely value for money full frame lens of this range around for nikon. The 24-120VR may have the handy VR, but image quality is rather so-so, the maximum aperture is way smaller, and unlike the 24-85 which has a macro mode at the tele end, allows real close up for shooting.

On a full frame body, this beautiful lens covers from wide all the way to tele, a very versatile lens that does anything from landscape (see image below), to portraits, event coverage, street shooting and macro photography. Image quality is definitely no slouch compared to way more expensive lenses such as 24-70F2.8.
