35mm F4 PA-CURTAGON SCHNEIDER-KREUZNACH (62) MANUAL FOCUS WIDE ANGLE LENS (NEW)
Images above purely for illustration. Set for sale here in brand new alike condition.
One of the very few Leica R lenses not made by Leica themselves, this little gem is made by SCHNEIDER instead. A big name in large format, one can definitely expect some serious optics from them. Though not specifically stated in the title, this is actually a shift lens, similar to the shift function in current nikon and canon tilt shift lens. Shown in the first image above is how the lens looks like when shifted. The shifting allows correction of perspective when shooting from top down, or down up, usually useful in architectural and interior photography. To see an example click here.
Frankly speaking, yes the lens is a tat slow with a F4 aperture, but rest assured, it is well made up for in its optical quality. Images taken are extremely sharp at F4, with very good contrast. Resolution is really very good, and definitely built to last.. When current full frame hits and exceeds 50MP, normal consumer lenses would be out resolved, probably even some canon L lenses as well, this lens will still be producing excellent images.
