70-200mm F2.8 SIGMA APO HSM for CANON (77) AUTO FOCUS TELEPHOTO ZOOM LENS (EX)

One of the best alternatives to canon's own 70-200F2.8L, this lens goes for only half the price of the canon, which is over $1900 for a new set now. Half the price, but definitely not half the value, in fact, a sharp copy of the Sigma might actually produce better image quality than the Canon even. It is actually lighter than the canon one, making it a lot better for shooting long hours with. Yet built quality is still excellent and not any inferior.

Normally third party alternatives from sigma or tamron of similar range F2.8 to the original canon ones, tend to have something inferior such as focusing speed, but this sigma is equiped with Sigma's HSM, similar to Canon USM, or Nikon SWM, which is using sonic waves to drive the focusing instead of normal gear system, achieving fast focusing speed, essential for AF servo continuous tracking in sports photography.

Tested sharp on the field, this lens produces stunning image quality, beautifully saturated colours, excellent micro contrast, and an amazing bokeh at wide open F2.8. Definitely a fantastic lens, doing everything from portrait to event coverage to sports and birding. A must have in this range if you don't already have a similar range F2.8 lens. Good value for money comparing the features to the price.
